Money and Mapping

The girls are happy to be back in school and enthusiastic about our studies of money and mapping.  We are identifying and sorting coins, and the girls were excited to see familiar presidents on various coins.  In our mapping unit, we are learning about our place on the map.  It will be fun to see on maps places we have lived and traveled!!

March Happenings

Happy March!  Here in First Grade, despite the weather, we are "plowing" ahead.  In Language Arts the girls are busy reading biographies and mysteries, learning about verbs, and celebrating the birthday of Dr. Seuss.  This week in Math we began a new unit on comparing numbers using terms like "greater than" and "less than."  The girls have enjoyed many hands on activities and games in this unit.  In Science we are wrapping up our study of weather with extreme weather, the water cycle, and wind.
