We took advantage of the beautiful weather this week to dive into the new fifth-grade AHA! History Curriculum. The girls were given the task of finding natural resources on campus to communicate. In our first major history unit, we will be studying the different ways that Native American tribes adapted their lifestyles to fit the available natural resources in the different regions of North America. It was great fun to see the girls putting their heads together to come up with different solutions to the given challenge.

Art_Identity & Fonts
IDENTITY is the theme in Art for the year and they will consider the essential question: How do you represent yourself and present yourself to others?
They are well into their first "identity" design project. Each designed a font for the first letter of her name after making a list of personal characteristics. The letter has to express aspects of the artist. They will build a 3D letter, decorate it and write alliterative sentences that match.
Here they are in the revising phase of their letter design:

Native American Regions: MYSTERY BOX
The fifth grade was hard at work today investigating "Mystery Boxes" of materials, resources, foods, and other various items found in a specific Native American cultural region.
The girls made connections and used prior knowledge (schema) to hypothesize which region the box represented! The answer will be revealed during the next history class!
